Theresa Quinonez, CEO of U-1st Community FCU commented, “As a credit union, our number one reason for being here is to provide service to members. Whether they are ours or not, it really does not make a difference.” U-1st Community FCU certainly will be able to fulfill this duty, as Carlsbad is in need of a shared branch. The city is experiencing an oil and gas boom and is growing exponentially, attracting individuals from all over the nation to work in the Permian Basin. A shared branch will provide these recent transplants a way to connect with their hometown credit unions, allowing them to make deposits, withdrawals, payments and more.

The Shared Branching Network now spans across all 50 states, but gaps in the network do still exist. CU Service Network is always thrilled to welcome a credit union to an underserved area of the country and strengthen the network. The CUSO provides shared branching and back office services to credit unions in New Mexico, among many others.
